First post - why blog?

So this is my first stab at posting any sort of thing resembling a blog online. I know blogging is the hottest thing, and I talk about like I know about it, but yet I have never had a desire to write online and give people a view of my world. Even with my profiles in the past on Friendster, then MySpace and now Facebook and LinkedIn, I just considered them social experiments. Being conservative in nature I do not put too much online as I know once you post it can be forever viewed or tracked, especially with Google. Yet I still use Facebook and LinkedIn as they do become addictive and have some usefulness. So why not try blogging.

I am not sure if I even have anything interesting to say or not, but I figure I would give this a try once. And now that I am a recently Dad, gulp! I realized sending a baby announcement and posting photos was the quickest way to get responses from people who you have not heard from in ages or would otherwise not bother to return your long lost emails. (So if you ever want to get in touch with everyone who you ever cared about, send out a baby announcement, guaranteed to get responses!) Or it could be that my fiancee Allison is super popular, just had an emergency c-section and Carson baby is cuter than anything. So maybe nobody is really interested in me, but just cute baby pics and Allison.

Speaking of baby pics, since we had an emergency c-section I did not have time to setup a website for the baby or even a blog, so the quickest easiest way to post photos was via Picassa and hence now I using Blogger. And I figure as a new Dad there is a newfound reason to writing my thoughts down as well as posting baby pics without having to bombard people with a continuous stream of non-ending baby photos on Picassa.
