Not Carson's first Christmas

So, it takes a bit of remembering on my part to know that this is NOT Carson's first Christmas. Last year Carson was still a tiny guy in the NICU in Phoenix and I was feeling pretty sad not to have my little guy at home with me. What a difference a year makes. We have now successfully had Carson's first birthday and are gearing up for Christmas #2. We had a visit with Santa today, unfortunately Carson looked stunned more than anything. No crying but no smile either. I'm trying to convince Jason to let us go back for a re-do. He's not really feeling it after we waited for 1 1/2 hours today.

But, last year of feeding tubes and apnea monitors are a thing of the past. I've been having some crazy flashbacks though thinking of how scared, uncertain and sad I was last year. I didn't know if Carson would have any long term challenges with breathing, sickness or eating. But, I'm happy to announce that Carson is perfectly healthy, happy, well adjusted and is truly the joy of my life. I thank God everyday for having angels watching over us and I'm so thankful to have the strength of my friends and family get me through the last year. I couldn't have done it alone. But mostly I look at Carson everyday and think how truly blessed Jason and I are. He is our angel, our prince, as our nanny Renata likes to put it. He is the man who makes my heart get bigger everyday. Merry Christmas everyone!!

Super close up, how handsome

As you can see, Carson was way more interested in the cap from his bottle than his first taste of sugar. The boy wasn't feelin' the cupcake.

Super cute at bathtime, just couldn't resist including these
